Re: Thinstation-general Digest, Vol 108, Issue 17

Peters, Robert

We've got nearly a thousand Dell Optiplex 740s with Thinstation using RDesktop to connect to Windows Terminal Servers
and it's working well, audio and everything working fine.

To minimize our overhead with servers we're turning the majority of them into true thinclients that boot into what is effectively a
Chrome kiosk.

The issue is that I am unable to get Chrome to play any sound at all.

Going into the mixer, I can get the audio to play a Test sound, but that's the extent of it.

Does anyone have any pointers of what to test next?
LSPCI detects the only audio device of 00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)

However, it appears to be using an audio device of HDA Intel chip, codec is SigmaTel STAC9200.

I've tried putting this line "module snd-hda-intel model=auto position_fix=1" in build.conf, but it makes no difference.

I don't see Chrome even listed as a sound option in the Mixer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Robert Peters.

the download link for the NVIDIA x86 driver is returning a 404, I had to change the URL to get it to download:
