VMWare Horizon View Client 3.5 - anyone gotten this to work

Dan Naughton
Has anyone gotten this Horizon View Client 3.5 to install into TS.  The current one, 3.2 does not work correctly.  (Spent two days on the phone with VMWare).  I got the 3.5 one working fine in 64 Bit Centos 7, but I'm not good with the TS build system.

Here are the links for the two different version - I think TS is 32 bit?
64 Bit:
32 bit:
if anyone has a tar file I can dump into the vmviewpciop, would that work?

Thanks all - Dan

Don Cupp
Dan,

I think there is a solution in the master branch, contributed by Michael K. and requested by by ozmend.
Yes, TS is 32

Best Regards,
Donald A. Cupp Jr.

Hi,

Default TS 5.4.2 is working whell with VMvoip. But if you want to use vmclient 3.4 or 3.5 you shuld use "Michael K" vmviewpcoip from https://github.com/ts-michaelk/thinstation/tree/master/ts/build/packages/vmviewpcoip/

Ofcourse , if you have any experience on TS you should know
- First, build full image with all-extensions option
- run first image on thinclient you are working on
- run hwlistener.sh and get modules that your hardware is using
- create directory under machines and put files for it together
- according your needs change build.conf and thinstation.conf.buildtime files (you can use example files under packages directories)
- build new image for your machine and clients

Thanks all for the response:

Sorry for the next question - other than using wget for each file, is there a good way to pull the directory?

i was having the same problem. i dowloaded all directories from root as a TAR file.
After that, extracted and pull from inside whatever you need

With parameter SESSION_1_VMVIEW_OPTIONS=--allmonitors session does not start, with SESSION_1_VMVIEW_OPTIONS=allmonitors does. So everything works now.

Re: VMWare Horizon View Client 3.5 - anyone gotten this to work

Michael K-2
The original developer of the vmview package (the older one without PCoIP support) made each option individual, and this was never changed for compatibility.  The OPTIONS parameters would get converted to --options=allmonitors, which may not work as intended.  Maybe you want:

SESSION_1_VMVIEW_ALLMONITORS=true

Not sure the documentation has kept up with new arguments, but I think the code has (I did not check for new ones in the recent series in my fork)

Re: VMWare Horizon View Client 3.5 - anyone gotten this to work

runby
This post was updated on .
In reply to this post by J.T.
Has anyone else gotten the Horizon View 3.5 client working properly?  I have read all the available information about upgrading the vmviewpcoip package to use the vmware view client 3.5 including this post.  I had the 3.2 client working perfectly for connecting from a couple of different builds including a kiosk as well as normal thinstation desktop.  The problem was the previously identified error with the SSL library when you try and have it perform the SSL check.

I have updated the build.conf.url to point to the new 3.5 bundle and have downloaded the michaelk vmviewpcoip package and replaced the normal one.  The package builds properly, but doesn’t seem to be seeing any of the previously working SESSION_1_VMVIEW options and won’t auto start.  Even the start menu icon fails to launch the vmware view client.  If I manually go to /bin/vmware-view and run that, the client launches properly and I have confirmed that it’s the new 3.5 version.  I can then add the connection server and connect properly, but must manually enter the server name.  In kiosk mode, it simply loads the blank desktop and nothing else.

I’m assuming there’s a problem with the format of my thinstation.conf.buildtime file, but I can’t seem to see *anything* that looks wrong.
