map compse key to menu key

Manuel Oetiker
Hi

I have a sun us keyboard and like to configure the compose key.

I'm using thinlinc session

my thinstaion.conf.network has the entries:

X_KEYBOARD_OPTION1="XKBMODEL sun_type7_euro_usb"
X_KEYBOARD_OPTION2="XKBLAYOUT us"
X_KEYBOARD_OPTION3="XKBOPTIONS compose:menu,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"

the Xorg.log on the thinstation client shows the right setting:

..
..
[    28.913] (**) Option "xkb_rules" "evdev"
[    28.913] (**) Option "xkb_model" "sun_type7_euro_usb"
[    28.914] (**) Option "xkb_layout" "us"
[    28.914] (**) Option "xkb_options" "compose:menu,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
..
..

if I run in the thinlinc session the xev programm and the key name is Menu

KeyRelease event, serial 37, synthetic NO, window 0x3a00001,
    root 0xed, subw 0x0, time 562198785, (1440,1336), root:(2088,1413),
    state 0x0, keycode 135 (keysym 0xff67, Menu), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

but in the thinlinc session the compse key is still the menu key and not
mapped to compose.

does anybody has some hint what went wrong?

thanks Manuel

Re: map compse key to menu key

Hi

I found a workaround. If I copy from the xkeyboard-config port

( /ts/ports/xorg/xkeyboard-config/xkeyboard-config#2.12-1.pkg.tar.gz )

the directory usr/share/X11/xkb/ to /build/packages/x-common/lib/X11/xkb

the compose key works after rebuild the image.

what is the thinstation way to get the file in the image?

cheers Manuel
