saving changes after installing thinstation on a machine

nivbehar
hello guys,

first of all, im sorry for grammer and spelling misatakes, english isnt my native language.
i built an image of TS with 3 rdesktop connections on the desktop.
each connection set to a different server.
each machine has its own user for the rdp connections, so i want to set up this user in the all three connections, maybe the password too.
i dont want to build a hundreds of TS images that contains the user names and passwords.
i wonder if there is a way to install the image on the machine's hard drive, boot it, and then set up the users details so it will be saved in the next boot.

i red about the syslinux image installation, and i installed it on a DOK, but changes couldnt be saved for the next boot.
any suggestions?

thnx alot.

You might want to consider netfiles, where a specific file is downloaded per machine that contains machine specific settings. TS presently has no way to capture "changes" and restore them after a reboot. What to capture runs off into the thousands, and this is a volunteer project.

Hi nivebehar,

Are you installing thinstation on a harddrive ?  if so what i did was use the /boot partition and saved the permanent information there.

You can then make a script to use this info at boot.  Since i use xfwm, i make change to the xfwm4.global in the following path :  /ts/build/packages/xfwm4/etc/cmd

I used that for dualscreen preference, resolution, autologin, etc.

Regards,
