Re: xorg failing

Don Cupp
Maybe because the Intel Xorg drive is built from, as they have not made a release in years. Try not including the Intel driver.

Hi,

I have tried to comment in build.conf xorg7-intel and rebuild ./build --allmodules but sems that always is added. Also tried with ./buil with smae result.

I have some hardware profiel generated by hwlister.sh that contains this driver, it could be that this has a preference or where is the problem?

Thanks

Re: xorg failing

Don Cupp
The xorg package is never included as part of the hwlister.sh process. Perhaps you are editing the wrong file, I cant tell from here.

Re: xorg failing

trentasis
Hi,

I have commented in build.conf with
# package xorg7-intel

Any other action is required?

we have some hardware profiles enabled, for example
https://github.com/Thinstation/thinstation/blob/f227e621ffc2d8e2ab0d9e06184232a4c1b228ab/ts/build/machine/foxconn-nT-535/package.list contains xorg7-intel, with ./build and ./build --allmodules I think that always is used intel...  or I need to a blacklist or other action is required to exclude this package?

hardware profiles are generated with https://github.com/Thinstation/thinstation/blob/f227e621ffc2d8e2ab0d9e06184232a4c1b228ab/ts/build/packages/hwlister/bin/hwlister.sh and seem that  package is used in hwlister generation

Where is my error?

Thanks

Re: xorg failing

trentasis
hi,

sorry but I don't understand, steps that I have used to reprodue an image with xorg  intel is:
generate image allmodules
run hwlister.sh and this generates packages list that contains xorg7-intel
run image with new machine profile
and this contains xorg7-intel...

remember that your best practice was not touse xorg7-intel because is an old driver ,but I can't use other... what I have to do? what driver will be used vesa?

thanks

Thanks

The xorg package is never included as part of the hwlister.sh process. Perhaps you are editing the wrong file, I cant tell from here.

Hi,

I have tried to comment in build.conf xorg7-intel and rebuild ./build --allmodules but sems that always is added. Also tried with ./buil with smae result.

I have some hardware profiel generated by hwlister.sh that contains this driver, it could be that this has a preference or where is the problem?

Thanks

Re: xorg failing

emuhuron
Not sure if anyone answered your question over the weekend.  So,

Simplest method:

Turn on all drivers using --allmodules
Run Hwlister on target machine
Copy to usb OR email the following files to yourself IF your test system has internet:
    • module.list (always),
    • vbe_modes.list (probably) and
    • firmware.list (maybe)
4.  On the Thinstation system, in "/build/machines" folder, create system name of the pc that this is from:  Example, a Dell 760 becomes Dell760 in machines fold.
5.  Copy the files in Step 3 to the folder in Step 4.
6.  In build.conf, add a line in the machines section called "Dell760    #Dell 760."  Again, your system may be an HP/Acer/whatever.    Comment out all other machine lines as they are no longer needed.
7.  Turn on the related Intel driver in the build and shut all unnecessary ones off.
8.  Run your ./build.  It should work now.

Re: xorg failing

Hi,

First of all thanks for your answer, but our environment we use images with allmodules, and with allmodules seems that always all packages are loaded...

In a previou message Don described that it vould be a way to do this, but not sure how can I do this...

Thanks
